Installing Windows 7 on my HP ProLiant Gen8 MicroServer. I downloaded cp024078.exe from HPs Driver download web site for the MicroServer and used the 7-Zip utility to remove the B120i drivers from the exe and place into a folder that I linked via iLO4 to the Windows 7 installer when asked for the storage drivers and did the same with the. HP Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) is a comprehensive systems software and firmware update solution, which is delivered as a single ISO image. This solution uses HP Smart Update Manager (HP SUM) as the deployment tool and is tested on all HP ProLiant Gen9, Gen8 and earlier servers as defined in the Service Pack for ProLiant Server Support Guide found at www.hp.com/go/spp/documentation.

Reboot Requirement:
Reboot may be required after installation for updates to take effect and hardware stability to be maintained.

Installation:

README replaces Start in online and offline modes.
Users familiar with using Start on the previous SPP iso will notice that it has been replaced with a new file, README. README.html will present locations for finding more information on the web and the basics of how to use the SPP in multiple languages. End User License Agreements (EULA) are available in the EULA folder for viewing.
Installation instructions
There are two methods for using the Service Pack for ProLiant to update your ProLiant servers:
- Online mode - Runs on a Windows or Linux hosted operating system
- Offline mode - Server is booted to the ISO

  • Automatic mode - Firmware components will be updated without interaction

  • Interactive mode - Follow the onscreen steps to update firmware components

    To initiate deployment in Interactive mode:

    Run the launch_hpsum.bat (Windows) or launch_hpsum.sh (Linux) script, which is found in the root of the ISO.

    Automatic mode will by default run firmware update without any user interaction after sitting 30 seconds at the menu screen when an SPP ISO image is used to boot the server.
    Booting the SPP from iLO virtual media is only supported in Automatic Firmware Update mode. Users attempting this in any other mode may experience hangs from connection timeouts, difficulties updating iLO firmware, and mouse syncing issues.
    Note: If you install a software from the SPP and then install a Microsoft Windows operating system Service Pack or other operating system updates, HP recommends reinstalling the software from the SPP.

Important:

The following devices (P212, P410, P410i, P411, P711m, P712m, and P812) are not supported with the HP ProLiant Smart Array Controller Driver and Firmware for VMware vSphere (i.e., Online ROM Flash Component - Smart Array P212, P410, P410i, P411, P711m, P712m, and P812) in SPP version 2015.10.0. Customers will need to use the HP ProLiant Smart Array Controller Driver and Firmware for VMware vSphere in SPP version 2015.06.0.

The HP USB Key Utility can be used to copy your Service Pack for ProLiant ISO onto your portable USB key storage device. Please note that the latest version (2.0.0.0) of the utility is now 64-bit only. If the 32-bit application is needed, please use version 1.8.0.0. Earlier versions of the USB Key Utility will not work on an ISO image greater than 4GB.

The 2019.03.1 SPP replaces 2019.03.0 and contains updated System ROM firmware to address an issue where the system may experience a higher rate of Uncorrectable Memory errors or boot time Memory training issues with Intel Xeon Scalable Performance Bronze and Silver processors. This issue was first introduced with System ROM version 2.00. HPE recommends that any customer experiencing a memory issue immediately update to this version of the system ROM before replacing any components. This issue is not unique to HPE servers.

The 2019.03.1 SPP Production release contains components supporting the ProLiant, Synergy and Apollo Gen9 and Gen10 server platforms and options. For Synergy, please review the information at www.hpe.com/downloads/synergy.

The 2019.03.1 SPP Production release provides support for:

Due to a recently discovered Software/Firmware issue with the HPE QLogic NX2 10/20GbE Multifunction Drivers for VMware vSphere 6.0/6.5, version 2017.07.07(bnx2.vmware60@2017.07.07), HPE has chosen to withdraw the affected VMWare drivers from all deliverables that include them.

The 2017.07.2 SPP release supports the ProLiant and Synergy Gen9 and Gen10 server platforms. It also provides support for the following operating systems:

  • vSphere 6.0 U3

  • vSphere 6.5 and vSphere 6.5 U1 for Gen9 Server Platforms (only)

Description

HP Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) is a comprehensive systems software and firmware update solution, which is delivered as a single ISO image. This solution uses HP Smart Update Manager (HP SUM) as the deployment tool and is tested on all HP ProLiant Gen9, Gen8 and earlier servers as defined in the Service Pack for ProLiant Server Support Guide found at www.hp.com/go/spp/documentation.

Reboot Requirement:
Reboot may be required after installation for updates to take effect and hardware stability to be maintained.

Installation:

README replaces Start in online and offline modes.
Users familiar with using Start on the previous SPP iso will notice that it has been replaced with a new file, README. README.html will present locations for finding more information on the web and the basics of how to use the SPP in multiple languages. End User License Agreements (EULA) are available in the EULA folder for viewing.
Installation instructions
There are two methods for using the Service Pack for ProLiant to update your ProLiant servers:
- Online mode - Runs on a Windows or Linux hosted operating system
- Offline mode - Server is booted to the ISO

  • Automatic mode - Firmware components will be updated without interaction

  • Interactive mode - Follow the onscreen steps to update firmware components

    To initiate deployment in Interactive mode:

    Run the launch_hpsum.bat (Windows) or launch_hpsum.sh (Linux) script, which is found in the root of the ISO.

    Automatic mode will by default run firmware update without any user interaction after sitting 30 seconds at the menu screen when an SPP ISO image is used to boot the server.
    Booting the SPP from iLO virtual media is only supported in Automatic Firmware Update mode. Users attempting this in any other mode may experience hangs from connection timeouts, difficulties updating iLO firmware, and mouse syncing issues.
    Note: If you install a software from the SPP and then install a Microsoft Windows operating system Service Pack or other operating system updates, HP recommends reinstalling the software from the SPP.
